Notice of Server Room Power Work affecting ASB II Systems TODAY

At the close of business today (5 PM), electricians will be completing the final stage of the cut-over to the new generator transfer switch in ASB II.

This final stage is being carefully orchestrated so that it minimizes the amount of time that the dedicated server room transformer is not powered.

We do NOT anticipate any disruption in AESOP email service and other cluster provided services nor network connectivity disruptions as we expect to have sufficient UPS capacity to run through the cut-over.

As a precautionary measure, we will be shutting down Hyper-V and non-virtualized Windows servers during this work.  Among them is WebFACS, and applications like PostIt, etc..  If you have concerns about availability of a Windows application between 5 and 6 PM tonight, please contact Marcus Knowlton ( or Karl Lindauer ( for more information.

Members of the Rutgers Community:

First of all, I want to thank you for your patience and cooperation during today’s network difficulties caused by a DDoS attack.  I know that it was frustrating to have limited, if any, access to the Internet for several hours during the work or school day. At this time, network connectivity has been stabilized and remains under observation and monitoring, but some services may still experience intermittent degradation throughout the evening.  Read More »
